An array of job training programs are available to provide tax-aided training for new or existing employees. Programs are highly flexible in meeting the training needs of the employer. The amount of benefits is based on the number of jobs created and wages paid to the employee. The employer benefits from maximizing training while controlling costs.

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) provides industry-driven workforce development programs and services enhancing Southern Iowa’s economic well being by increasing the skills of an already productive workforce.

By leveraging training resources, filling funding gaps in human resource development initiatives, and addressing the employment training needs, the skills of Southern Iowa workers are enhanced, allowing businesses and industries to grow.

Programs:

Iowa Industrial New Jobs Training Program (260E)
The Iowa Industrial New Jobs Training Program provides funds to train new employees of eligible Iowa businesses. Eligible businesses may be new to Iowa, expanding their Iowa work force, or relocating to the state. Provides training dollars from Iowa's Community Colleges. The certificates are paid by the diversion of the new employees' payroll tax withholding.

Iowa Jobs Training Program (260F)
The Iowa Jobs Training Program provides job training services to current employees of eligible businesses which are located in Iowa. Provides forgivable loans to Iowa businesses to train existing workers.  The purpose of the program is to help Iowa businesses become more competitive by providing the resources to maximize skills and productivity of their workers.

Customized Training
Delivering customized training services and consulting services to area businesses, governmental agencies, and non-profit organizations. Provides a varied types of training services sought by today's large and small businesses including:

  • Customized courses and instructional packages
  • Training needs assessment
  • Flexible scheduling to meet your operation or production schedule
  • Training offered at your facility, or on the campuses of Southwestern Community College or Indian Hills Community College.
